Did we see yours among the many happy faces at the Art Center Theater’s Season Preview last Sunday? What a great show! And a great party! Thank you to everyone who made this a memorable evening.

Cynthia Killion, as Becky Foster, unquestionably served as the best last minute substitute for Tom Jones to host the evening. To book her for YOUR show call “Bill Buckley, Lexus, Saturn, Nissan, Mitsubishi, home of the 50,000 mile smile”— or just come and see her in Becky’s New Car, opening at the Art Center Theater on January 27.
A scene from Red by John Logan came next, with Remy Muloway and Brian Robert Harris. The unscripted interludes of “What’s New Pussycat?” put these guys on their toes. Red runs March 17—April 9. Auditions for both roles are scheduled for January 25 and 28 at the Art Center.

Magic and possibly budding romance were on display in Peter Fox’s Disappearing Act. Andrew Eiden and Lindsay Styler played a fantastic scene — and neither are available for the actual production. Three roles are open. Auditions announced soon.

What’s become of demure Marian the Librarian from last summer’s production of The Music Man? Well, she showed up to the preview, and, baby, she was a new kind of sister! Darrienne Lissette Caldwell performed one of the songs from Nunsense and brought down the house. Five swinging sisters are needed for this summer musical. Watch for auditions this spring.

From music to murder most foul. Adrien Viecco and Jonathan Markham chilled the audience with the opening scene of Rope, the classic mystery/thriller. We know right away “who done it.” The tension comes from wondering if they’ll get away with it. All eight roles are open for this fall production. Check the website for audition dates mid-summer.

Cecil Sutton took us deeper into the dark side of London as Ebenezer Scrooge, the meanest man in the whole wide world. He hates people…and people hate him. This intergenerational production of Scrooge The Musical runs December 1—17. All roles are open — including Scrooge. Look for auditions in late summer.

And how did the program end, you ask? With a marvelous curtain call, of course, followed by our traditional actor and audience party in the gallery.

2023 is truly a season that you don’t want to miss at the Ojai Art Center Theater. Season tickets are a great way to save money, and ensure yourself a seat in the house.
Also looks like the casting as already taken place for some of your upcoming productions.
Red, in particular, appears to be cast with Ventura County favorite, Brian Robert Harris … although, of course, “auditions” will be held. Understood.Wink
Such is the nature of local community theater.
Looks like an enjoyable time was had by all.
