Four Star Theater Alliance, a group of six Ventura County theaters committed to promoting a spirit of camaraderie, cooperation, and mutual respect, announced its 2018 winners representing a totally unique, truly memorable array of work produced throughout the area over the last twelve months! A group of dedicated members of six community theaters saw productions and selected awardees.
There were five judges who saw all of the OACT productions and selected the following to receive awards:
Outstanding Lead Performance, Male: Paul Sulzman as “Lionel,” Bakersfield Mist
Outstanding Lead Performance, Female: Lee Ann Manley as “Maude,” Bakersfield Mist
Outstanding Featured Performance, Male: John Medeiros as “Charlie Martin,” On Golden Pond
Outstanding Featured Performance, Female: Lynn Van Emmerik as “Gertie”, 33 Variations
Outstanding Set Design: Steve Mitchell, On Golden Pond
Outstanding Sound Design: Cari Grace Frantz, 33 Variations
Outstanding Lighting Design: Claire Cleary, On Golden Pond
Outstanding Costume Design: Mary Crane & Tracey Williams Sutton, & Haley Weed 33 Variations
Outstanding Direction: Susan Kelejian, Bakersfield Mist
Outstanding Overall Production: Bakersfield Mist – Aaliyah Mora-Khan, Producer
Judges’ Choice Award: “Master of the Ivories” Award to Aaron Embry for 33 Variations
And this year for the first time, theaters could nominate one or two youth for Outstanding Youth in Theatre.
Outstanding Youth in Theatre: Amber Hodge for her Ursula role in Little Mermaid and for her helping other youth in the rehearsal process and offering props and costumes.
Outstanding Youth in Theatre: Coree Kotula for her role in CINDERELLA, playing a king.
The Four Star Performance Award Ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 3rd at 7 pm with a reception to follow. Oceanview Pavilion 575 E. Surfside Dr, Port Hueneme, 93041.
Tickets to the ceremony will go on sale after the first of the year.
