Ojai’s sense of community is one of the most important reasons many people live here. After the Thomas Fire, landslides, and now as we round the corner on the pandemic, we get ready for celebrations. For the holidays the Ojai Art Center Theater offers a weekend of variety entertainment featuring locals-only talent, ages six into their 70s. “Our Home for the Holidays” runs December 10 – 12 with evening performances at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and a matinee on Sunday at 2 pm. This fundraiser benefits the theater and a donation of $10 is requested.
OACT Artistic Director, Tracey Williams Sutton, said, “Our goal is to showcase the many performing talents we have in this beautiful valley. Entertainment includes singing both duets and soloists, monologues, and more. A creative team joined me in collaborating on different segments of the show, including Gai Jones, Sue Barry, Kelly Hollis, Jill Dolan, Shannon Penrith, and Jerry Montanez. The musical selection is quite varied. Some well-known songs, like ‘O Holy Night,’ ‘Santa Baby,’ ‘We Need a Little Christmas,’ and some unusual and fun songs not heard often, like ‘I Wanna Hippopotamus for Christmas!’ and other surprises.”
Come early for special pre-show performances by local musicians at 6:30 pm. Friday night Dianne Miller shares her musical gifts, and Saturday night Ojai Madrigali showcase their Renaissance voices.
Help of Ojai, which recently moved across the street from the Art Center, will collect canned goods. We ask audience members to bring a couple of items to donate. At the Sunday matinee the Humane Society will highlight several pets in need of a new, loving forever home.
For an evening or afternoon of holiday cheer, don’t miss the “A Home for the Holidays” celebration, December 10-12, at the Ojai Art Center Theater.
