On Stage:
First up is Just the Ticket, a heart-warming comedy starring popular Ojai actress Lynn Van Emmerik. Lynn played roles large and small over the last 20 years at Ojai ACT, including leads in Tiny Beautiful Things and Rabbit Hole, and supporting roles in Macbeth and 33 Variations. She is sure to shine in this funny, one-woman show.
Directed by Tom Eubanks, Just the Ticket opens Friday, August 19, and runs for three weekends. It’s a perfect comedy for “women of a certain age.” Join us, won’t you?
Later in September, keep an eye out for a three week run of Walter Cronkite is Dead. Artistic Director Tracey Williams Sutton describes the show as “truly a play for our time.” Two women, polar opposites politically and culturally, are trapped in an airport while a storm rages outside. They can choose to sit in stony silence or open a bottle of wine and begin to talk. This insightful 90-minute play illustrates what’s possible if people from opposites sides of the political aisle stopped shouting and took one night to listen. Walter Cronkite is Dead is directed by Kathleen Bosworth and stars Sindy McKay and Jill Dolan. Ticket sales will be announced soon.
And let’s not forget Christmas!

Elf – The Musical runs November 28 – December 18. Mark your calendar for auditions, scheduled for September 18, 19, and 20. All roles are open so dream big! Keep your eyes out for the audition notice!
Looking Forward:
Wondering what’s in store for our 2023 season? The Board of the Ojai Art Center Theater Branch will announce the season at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 6, at 7 pm.
And that’s not all! We’ll have sign-up sheets for production volunteer opportunities. No experience? Not to worry. We’re designing training strategies for all aspects of theater production—stage management, lights, sound, costuming, etc. The meeting includes time for a meet-and-greet with directors, producers, and other volunteers at the Ojai Art Center Theater.
