Meet the Men for Our “Evening on the Lanai” – Remembering “The Golden Girls” at OACT!

     The Ojai Art Center is pleased to present another benefit for the longevity of this historical establishment. We are pleased to present “An Evening on the Lanai” – Remembering “The Golden Girls” with special guests! We have “The Golden Girls” show writer Stan Zimmerman and celebrity radio show host Alexander Rodriguez to entertain us for the day! Spend the afternoon with behind-the-scene stories and an audience Q & A from one of the television’s most beloved shows. Get ready for a day of laughs and Golden Girls frivolity! This is another one-time-only event, so make sure you don’t miss this special opportunity.

Stan’s book, “The Girls: From Golden to Gilmore” was released this past February by Indigo River Publishing. A limited number of autographed books will be available at the Meet and Greet after the Benefit, $20.00 cash or Venmo.

     Here’s a little more about our guests, Stan Zimmerman and Alexander Rodriguez!

STAN ZIMMERMAN is a man of many mediums (TV, film and theatre). He’s been nominated for two WGA Awards for Best Comedy Writing – The Golden Girls and Roseanne. Stan’s also written and produced on Gilmore Girls, co-created the Lifetime sitcom, Rita Rocks, wrote on both Brady Bunch movies and rewrote the ABC-TV movie of Annie. Stan has a BFA-Drama from NYU/Circle-in-the-Square and has directed LA productions of The Diary of Anne Frank-Latinx (eight iterations since 2018, including a tour to Vancouver), Entertaining Mr. Sloane, A Tuna Christmas, Gemini, Spike Heels,Pledge, High Maintenance, Heartbreak Help, and his original plays — Meet & Greet, Knife to the Heart, Have a Good One, and Yes Virginia (also Judson Theatre-Pinehurst, NC). Stan directed Off-Broadway’s Hyprov (Daryl Roth Theatre). TRWplays has published and licensed four of his works — Yes Virginia, Silver Foxes and his suicide awareness play, right before I go, including a School Edition. Stan continues to appear in the play across the U.S. Next up, May 2025 (Curtis Theatre-Brea, CA). He’s directed multiple one person shows, such as Daughter Of, Warm Cheese, and Blink and You Might Miss Be (Broadwayworld Best Director winner). Zimmerman & Berg wrote last year’s Lifetime hit Christmas movie, Ladies of the 80’s: A Divas Christmas. Stan’s book, “The Girls: From Golden to Gilmore” was released this past February by Indigo River Publishing. He appeared as “the Bartender” on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live (Bravo) to promote it. Stan began this year directing Paul Rudnick’s The New Century (BENT Theatre-Palm Springs, CA) and ends it with his original play, Yes Virginia (The North Street Playhouse, Onancock, VA).

Meet TV/Radio’s ALEXANDER RODRIGUEZ, the love child of Joan Rivers, Johnny Carson and Judy Garland. A true renaissance man, he wouldn’t be caught dead without his signature suit, loud tie, matching pocket square, and a cocktail (or two in hand). Alexander’s sense of humor shines through in his cabaret shows (when he can remember the words), daily life, and his nationally syndicated radio show “On The Rocks with Alexander: Where Celebrities & Cocktails Mix” on iHeartRadio, Pandora, and Spotify. He chats with big-name guests from classic to current Hollywood, reality TV, pop culture and music, meshing celebs from all walks of life to draw together a truly diverse listener base regardless of age, orientation or gender. Viewers never know who they are going to find rubbing elbows on this non-stop laugh fest that talks about everything entertainment; after a few drinks you see celebs in a different light, answering questions not usually asked. Alexander is also the lead writer for Metrosource (National) Magazine and GED Magazine, as well as a contributor for Instinct Magazine where you can find his movie reviews, movie news, celeb interviews and over-all take on Hollywood…of course in his signature style.

He has won numerous singing awards and performed at Segerstrom Center for the Arts with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. He’s played Charlie Brown at the Roxy in Hollywood to critical acclaim, performed at the Green Hills Memorial Park for over 5,000 guests for the 4th of July Celebration, hosted National MS Society’s “Sky’s the Limit” event, and performed at Upright Citizen’s Brigade’s Inner Sanctum, ESpot, Don’t Tell Mama in LA and NY, Rage Nightclub, and Rockwell Table & Stage. Alexander has also served as MC for Palm Springs Pride, Santa Monica Pride, Out at the Fair New Mexico State Fair, Downtown LA Proud Out, Out at the Fair San Diego, Cathedral City Pride, Laguna Beach Pride, Long Beach Pride Overboard, and Vanderpump World Dog Day. Alexander was most recently listed as runner up for LA Blade’s Best of LA as TV Personality and served as Media Grand Marshal for Palm Springs Pride 2019. Alexander also served as co-host for LATV’s Glitterbomb – the first ever national LATINX LGBT television programming. You can find him at every happy hour imaginable, at any hour imaginable.
