Ojai Arts Center’s production of “ROPE” by Patrick Hamilton is not only a captivating thriller but also a platform for fresh talent to shine. With a talented ensemble cast, this suspenseful play explores the moral dilemmas surrounding a heinous crime.
Katrina Rabusin, a newcomer to the Ojai Art Center, expresses her excitement: “I am so excited to be working my first show at the Ojai Art Center after 5 years of theater in Ventura County. Everyone has been so welcoming at the theater, helping me to learn the ‘ropes.'”
Eric Anderson, who plays Rupert Cadell, remarks, “I’m grateful to be able to put on a show for Ojai. This town has been such a wonderful and supportive community and I’m excited to give back. This play is a suspenseful, fun, nail biting rollercoaster and I think the audience will love it!”
Jon Markham, portraying Wyndham Brandon, adds, “I’m really enjoying working on ‘Rope’ because it has allowed me the opportunity to explore a role unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s also been enjoyable to draw upon various tools from my training as I re-enter the theatre world. I’ve truly relished being a part of this production with OTAC. This marks my first show with them, and thus far, I’ve greatly appreciated the company of the cast, crew, and board members. Everyone has been very kind, and this has been one of the most positive theatre experiences I’ve ever had, which includes my professional credits. This is what theatre should be: people having the chance to play pretend and having fun while exploring different facets of humanity.”
The cast’s dedication to excellence is matched by the director, Kimberly Demmary, who has brought her vision to life in this production. “ROPE” is a suspenseful rollercoaster, filled with nail-biting moments, psychological drama, and a touch of comedy.
“ROPE” runs from September 29th to October 22nd, offering several chances to experience this exceptional production. Be sure to mark your calendar and secure your seats for a night of delightful entertainment in the heart of Ojai.
