Dear Ojai Art Center Theater Lovers:
During these uncertain times we hope you are all well and safe.
OACT misses you! An empty theater looks so sad. Actors and an audience should fill it with laughter and life. But now all we see are rows empty of seats and closed dressing rooms doors.
We felt excited about the 2020 season. Our first production, Shirley Valentine, starring Anna Kotula, became a huge success. Most every curtain opened in front of a full house.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, our second production, was ready to go. The cast and crew worked hard and we hope to produce the show in the future. The cast and crew of Young Frankenstein also made a great effort on what we planned as our third 2020 production.
Our selection committee received some fantastic submissions. They’re now reading plays for what we hope will become our 2021 season.
We wish this letter came as an invite to a festive party announcing the opening of the theater and a new show, but sadly, it doesn’t. We still don’t know when our doors will open. We patiently await the time when we will reopen with safety and certainty for all.
We will keep you, our audience, in our thoughts and assure you that when the time comes, whether later this year, or the beginning of next year, we will feel overjoyed to see you!
In over 80 years, the Ojai Art Center Theater never closed its doors. Because the COVID-19 crisis forced us to leave the theater empty we need tremendous support from our donors in order to recover and reopen.
People who bought 2020 OACT season tickets, those will remain good for 2021. If you wish to donate your season tickets to help our wonderful community theater, we incredibly appreciate such a gesture.
OACT stands by our commitment to bring you the highest quality theater. We promise to continue to let you know what is happening here at the theater.
Best wishes for good health to you and yours as we move through this uncertain time together.
Sincerely,
Ojai Art Center Theater Branch
Executive Committee
